The 8 Limbs of Yoga
The First Limb: Yama
Yama Reflection:
Take a few minutes to reflect on how each of the Yamas apply or could be applied to your daily life. Here is a little reminder of each one:
-
Ahimsa: non-harming
-
Satya: to speak the truth
-
Asteya: non-stealing
-
Aparigraha: non-greed
-
Brahmacharya: moderation in all things
The Second Limb: Niyama
Niyama Reflection:
Take a few minutes to reflect on how each of the Niyamas apply or could be applied to your daily life. Here is a little reminder of each one:
1. Sauca: Purity / cleanliness
2. Santosa: Contentment
3. Tapas: Discipline
4. Svadhyaya: Introspection / self-study
5. Ishvara Pranidhana: Devotion & self-surrender
The Third Limb: Asana
Asana Reflection: 35 Minute Acceptance Yoga Flow
The Fourth Limb: Pranayama
Pranayama Reflection: Energising Breathwork Class
The Fifth Limb: Pratyahara
Pratyahara Reflection:
For this reflection, I invite you to practise a daily activity in a mindful way. Adopting a regular practice of observing the body and the senses can help your connection to Pratyahara. As you move about your daily life, pay attention to each sensation that you experience. Notice how external influences contribute to your mood, your body, or your perception of an external object. This can be while doing something as simple as brushing your teeth - take time to turn the attention inwards and tune in to your senses.
The Sixth Limb: Dharana
Dharana Reflection:
For this reflection, light a candle and focus your gaze and attention on the flame. See if you can keep this focus for 5 minutes.
The Seventh Limb: Dhyana
Dhyana Refection: Guided Meditation
The Eighth Limb: Samadhi

Thank You
I'm Alice, self confessed over-thinker, yoga-obssessor and anxious-thought-haver. I've had some ups and downs with mental health over the past few years, and seen how much it can not only affect individuals but the people around us too.
Daily acts of self care are so important, but can often be most difficult when you're not feeling yourself. I wanted to create a space where people could take small steps to support their wellbeing, whether that's through a self-love focused yoga class, a calming meditation, or simply starting a conversation about how they feel.
